Thai Taste is the first Thai restaurant I ever visited and has since become one of my all-time favorite Thai restaurants in the Indy area. It’s one of those places that is consistently great to the point that you start to take it for granted. Located in a Castleton strip mall, it’s a tiny, unassuming place that you’d easily miss if you’re not looking for it, but it’s a real gem.
One of my favorite features of this restaurant is their Thursday buffet, but unfortunately, the last time I tried to go to the buffet, it was “Vegetarian Night” which I learned is far more popular than their other regular buffet nights, and couldn’t get a seat without a fairly long wait.
So instead of waiting that night, I went the lunch the next week and got one of my all-time favorite dishes here – the Garlic Chicken – made with garlic, pepper, and cilantro, served on a bed of cabbage with a side of white rice, and a spring roll.
But, before the main dish, the lunch special includes soup as a starter, and I always choose soup. The Tom Yum soup is more popular, but I generally go with the Silver Noodle Soup that has silver noodles, ground pork, green onion, and cilantro. I also ordered a (Sweet) Thai Tea, which, if you’ve never had it, you need to try at least once!
At the end of the lunch meal comes the rum cake, which I’ve never seen served at any other Thai Restaurant, but I love it! It’s moist and delicious every time. And, once again, Thai Taste didn’t disappoint.
